PPA Celebrates 41st Anniversary

The Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) – Central Office celebrated its 41st Anniversary, with the theme “PPA @ 41: Bridging Lives, Empowering People, Creating Myriads of Hope for a Stronger and Drug-Free Nation” with weeklong activities facilitated and coordinated by Technical Services Division (TSD) and Legal Division (LD) headed by CPPO Nancy B. Señoren and Atty. Rey Daniel N. Gonzaga, respectively.

For Day 1, July 18, the “tiangge” or mini flea market was launched at the ground floor lobby where various special products like assorted foods, native delicacies and beverages awaited the pinch buyers and foodies. Beauty and wellness services also started this day and continued until Thursday, July 20. Some of the free services offered were foot and hand spa, regular facial, haircut and 10-minute body massage. However, other services such as hand and foot paraffin, warts removal, manicure/pedicure, diamond peel, hair spa and other similar treatment were offered with a minimal fee.

The next two days focused on sports and entertainment. On July 19, Central Office officials and employees joined the early morning fun run and zumba at Liwasang Aurora, Quezon City Memorial Circle with Administrator Manuel G. Co and Deputy Administrator Lorna A. Yumul. In the afternoon, a 1994 drama/crime story film The Shawshank Redemption, starring Morgan Freeman, Tim Robins and Bob Gunton was shown at Teodulo Natividad Hall in Central Office. On July 20, Team Co and Team Gonzaga, led by Administrator Manuel G. Co and Atty. Rey Daniel N. Gonzaga, respectively, held a basketball exhibition at Golden Panda Gym, E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, Quezon City wherein Team Gonzaga won with the score 68-49. The same day in the afternoon, eight teams competed at RJ Bowling Lanes, Quezon City for a bowling tournament. Red Team led by CPPO Señoren won after three games.

The culminating activity of the anniversary celebration was The PRAISE Awards and Coronation of Ms. PPA-Provident Fund held on Day 4, July 21. In the three-hour program, Central Office officials and employees who served the Administration for 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years were also given recognition and received a token of appreciation – a wall clock for 25 years and below, wristwatch for 30 and 35 years.

The celebration was capped with a Thanksgiving Mass, bloodletting activity and GSIS Seminar (Paghahanda para sa Kinabukasan Pakatapos ng Retirement) on July 24, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Central Office. The Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City was the beneficiary of the bloodletting, facilitated by SPPO Danilo M. Capili of Community Services Division (CSD).
