DOJ Secretary Keynotes PPA 42nd Anniversary Celebration
Newly appointed Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra was the keynote speaker during the culminating program of the 42nd Anniversary celebration of the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) held last July 24, 2018 at the DOJ-PPA Multi-Purpose Hall in Quezon City.
The celebration was attended by officials and employees of the Agency, officials of the Land Registration Authority (LRA), Board of Pardons and Parole (BPP) and Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) and awardees from the different regions of the PPA.
In his message, Secretary Guevarra commended the personnel of the PPA for their work as officers in charge of probationers, parolees and pardonees. He emphasized that the task of the Agency is to rekindle the hope of those behind bars because they rightfully deserve a second chance. “They may have lapses in judgement but they should be given chance to rectify their mistakes and become a useful member of society again,” he added.
He likewise said that with the impending ISO certification, it will result in the shift to an efficient delivery of services to the Agency clientele due to reconstructing and rationalizing of procedures. Having reached 42 years as an institution mean procedures and services should not be ancient, he said.
