PAO Chief Meets with PPA OIC Administrator

Public Attorney’s Office Chief, Atty. Persida Acosta visited the OIC Administrator of the Parole and Probation Administration, Atty. Bienvenido O. Benitez, Jr. on June 1, 2023, at the PPA-Central Office in Quezon City. The two Chiefs of Offices discussed the common challenges being faced by both Agencies, such as overwhelming caseloads, the need for additional plantilla positions, and the provision of adequate office space. They also explored possible cooperation in addressing the legal needs of PDLs in their petition for parole and probation. Both voiced their support to the Department’s goal to immediately release qualified PDLs.

Prior to their discussion, Atty. Acosta greeted Atty. Benitez, Jr for his appointment as Deputy Administrator of Parole and Probation Administration, eventually as the OIC Administrator. Atty. Benitez, Jr. was appointed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Jr. on April 12, 2023.
