PPA is Certifiable ISO 9001:2015 Standard

After almost two years, the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) is now certifiable to ISO 9001:2015, a Quality Management System standard.

TUV Nord auditors recommended PPA for the certification after the two-stage audits they conducted on November 16 and December 14, 2018. Following the audit, the result was brought to Germany for verification and official registration. It is expected that by March 2019, PPA will receive the official certificate from TUV Nord.

ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that sets the requirements for a quality management system. The standard provides a process-oriented approach to documenting and reviewing the structure, responsibilities, and procedures needed to achieve an effective quality management in an organization. Using the ISO 9001 standard, an organization can establish a quality management system (QMS), create satisfied customers, management, and employees as well as continually improve the processes while observing the regulatory laws. As procedures are streamlined, an organization will also save costs eventually.

The PPA-Central Office, PPA-National Capital Region Regional Office, Manila PPO Nos. 3, 5, and 6, PPA-Region 7 Regional Office, Cebu City PPO No. 1, and Lapu-Lapu City PPO are the offices who went through the certification process and are now certifiable to ISO 9001:2015.

The adoption of an ISO 9001 standard is a directive implemented through Administrative Order No. 161 series of 2006 and Executive Order No. 605 series of 2007 both signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Under both orders, all department and agencies of the Executive branch, including GOCCs and GFIs were directed to obtain the said standard. SUCs, LGUs, the Judiciary, Legislature and Constitutional Offices were also encouraged to pursue certification.

All PPA offices who are ISO certified will be evaluated yearly starting 2019.
